I Made A Little Boy Cry Today

Three year old boy today, running around in circles on the sidewalk the way little boys do, suddenly caught sight of me. He stopped cold, stared at me in horror, then did that kid-crumple-cry-face thing as he ran to his mom for safety. Pretty sure he thought I was going to eat him for dinner. I could hear him crying as I walked away. You didn't know I was a monster, did you?
Probably the first time he'd ever seen a foreigner close up. Sorry, kid! Next time I'll wear my monster mask and see if that helps.

  1. That is just so crazy. I can't believe you could scare a little one so easily!!!! Maybe he had just seen one of those american horror stories, you know the equivalent to godzilla over in Japan.

  2. Way to go, Rebecca! Now he's going to have all kinds of neuroses because of you! Just kidding, don't feel bad. Last week the cashier at the grocery store said hi to McKenna, and she instantly started screaming and trying to hide. She was just super tired.

James and I had a good laugh over your 4th of July cake. James made me watch that stupid movie, and ever since then he likes to tell me, "I will never die."

  3. One of my favorite memories is one of my nieces, about three years old, crying over something and running in the house, "Mommy mommy mommy..."

Well she came around the corner and for the first time in her life that she was old enough to realize the situation saw her mother...and her mother's identical twin...both standing there.

Stopped her. Dead. In her tracks.

After a minute of trying to process I-have-two-mommies...she cried "Mommy" and ran to her aunt.

  4. Ok, thanks guys, I thought it was just me that makes kids cry. He didn't start crying until he saw me, maybe I was just too tall for him.

Funny stories about kid's crying! I never thought about what it would be like to realize your mom has a clone. Haha, that cracked me up.

  6. I don't think it had anything to do with your look. Maybe he was just looking up and expecting to see his mom and ran into you instead. That's happened to me. A little boy or girl will grab my leg and start talking to me, and a min. later realize I'm not his/her mommy. They get the same sad cry-face when that happens.
